I noticed that it took our van quite some time or a few seconds shy of a minute just to reach Waterfront Insular Hotel's lobby from its main entrance along JP Laurel Avenue. That's when I realized that this premier hotel in Davao City is quite expansive, something that even its own website seems too modest to admit.
There was a small boxing ring that was already set-up when my friend and I entered the lobby of Seda Abreeza Hotel in Davao City. Two pairs of red gloves were hung on its corners which contrasted the predominantly brown and gray color palette of this contemporary hotel in these parts.
As our bus weaved its way down to Bancogon port, I can already see Sumilon island in the horizon. I could make out its famed white sandbar that changes shapes and shifts locations depending on the season and the tide.
