Golden Cowrie’s Feast All-You-Can: unlimited baked scallops, crispy pata and other house favorites

By on March 22, 2015
At first glance, Golden Cowrie's buffet spread at their AS Fortuna branch is a bit underwhelming. I could easily count the number of dishes placed at one corner of this new 50-seater restaurant.

A quick but memorable breakfast at Abaca Baking Company

By on March 12, 2015
I wanted to wait for my good friend Virgil to arrive, but since the aroma of freshly baked pastries was already difficult to resist, I eventually gave in. I was then comfortably seated at a corner table at Abaca Baking Company, a new bakery/cafe at Crossroads in Banilad, Cebu.

Excellent wine, interesting food pairings at Planet Grapes Cebu

By on October 21, 2014

The burger that’s not on Big Tom’s menu and why I don’t want to share it next time

By on October 19, 2014
Maybe one of these days, I will get to enjoy this burger all by myself. By then, I'll finally attain that ultimate burger sensation, a sensation that hovers somewhere between a near death experience and a religious conversion.

Jafar’s: Better tasting shawarma with great value for money

By on September 21, 2014
Although it's not necessarily my favorite shawarma in the world, Jafar's huge portions and better flavors (and in that order) present the best bang-for-buck among its kind in the metropolis.

Dreamy goat caldereta at the Cadi Shack Diner

By on September 15, 2014
Cadi Shack Diner is tucked somewhere in Mabolo, in a village where I least expected to find a good restaurant, or even a restaurant to begin with.
