Happy Birthday Cyel!

May I shamelessly greet Cyel, a good friend of mine who is celebrating her birthday today. If she will not be cramming to finish all her case studies tonight, she will probably be on a dinner date with her special someone. Eitherway, I hope that a major, major pigout will be in order for the rest of us this weekend.

I also would like to take this opportunity to thank her for sharing her life to us in our church small group. She is, for most of us, a thoughtful sister who looks after her wayward siblings. She has also this ability to comfort those who are in pain, without pushing herself into your hurting world. She does not demand for your attention in return, unlike some of the people I know who are too soaked up with their own self-importance. Indeed, she has been a blessing to the group in more ways than one.

And lest I forget, I must also thank her for being one of my willing guinea pigs in my jump shots. I do not know if I have really mastered the craft by now but after all my attempts, she and my other good friends have memorized by heart every great pose possible.

While looking at the pictures last night, I realized that she did not lose or gain weight for the past three summer outings. She has a voracious appetite by the way and how she maintains her figure is still beyond me. I’ve joined 4 fun runs this year and I am still 10 lbs off my target. Well, enjoy your enviable figure now Cyel. When you’ll have babies in the future, it will be an entirely different matter. >:)

We do not see or talk or even text each other as often as before but I know that she is still my friend, in the truest sense of the word. In that regard, may I pray then for a ka-CG, a travel buddy and dear friend of mine ‘that this life becomes all that you want it to be.’ May you also overcome the demands of your graduate degree, without being overwhelmed in the process. And may you embrace every new morning with anticipation of God’s surprises and in constant dependence to His will all the time.

Happy birthday Cyel!
